The Power of Secure Attachments

In this article, published by CELA, Michelle Cuthbertson, an experienced Circle of Security facilitator, explains when educators choose to apply the attachment framework to their daily practices, they become the secondary attachment figure children are seeking, in order to feel safe and secure in the absence of their primary caregivers (parents).

By reflecting on a child’s behaviour through the attachment lens, educators identify the communication of an unmet need, in their relationship and thus, become the ‘relational anchor' children require to confidently engage in the learning environment and maximise their developmental outcomes.
