Support for Individual Families

Parent Coaching empowers families by strengthening their relationships with their children, within the unique context of their family. During individual appointments, with 1 to 3 adult members of a family, experienced Parent Coach Michelle Cuthbertson journeys alongside parents, carers, and grandparents and other significant adults in a child’s life, as they consider what is best for the child and their family and how they might achieve this.

Parent coaching provides the adult with opportunities to reflect, discuss, plan, and develop strategies to bring about desired outcomes in their children such as:

  • emotional regulation

  • a healthy, secure attachment

  • positive behaviours

  • encouraging children to listen and follow instructions

  • establishing effective daily routines

  • reducing anxiety and stress related behaviours

  • supporting a positive self esteem

In doing so, there is potential for the child’s increased wellbeing, social competence and participation; improved relationships; and increased capacity toward meeting their learning and development goals.

Michelle also recommends suitable resources such as books, informative websites and videos, and suggest pathways for families to attend group parenting programs and courses.
